(WJHG/WECP) - For 75 years the Civil Air Patrol has been helping the U.S. Air Force by conducting rescue and relief missions during times of man made and natural disasters. Because it also had an educational mission for training its volunteers it was managed by the U.S. Air Force's Air Education and Training Command. The largest user of CAP resources is Air Combat Command's 1st Air Force at Tyndall Air Force Base. Now, after three years of planning and organizing, CAP will be under the command of that organization. The change streamlines the command structure so that missions can be carried out more efficiently. After the official welcome of the first new CAP aircraft assigned to Tyndall a formal re-patching ceremony was held to signify the official change of command structure. The command realignment also makes Civil Air Patrol part of the total force community which means CAP and its approximately 56,000 volunteer members become more of an instrumental force multiplier for the Air Force. Lieutenant General William Etter, Commander of First Air Force added, "This will make our response quicker and more effective and efficient because we'll have the headquarters in line with where we actually task out the operational flying." -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Nothing on the subject on capmembers.com. We actually have aircraft stationed on base at Tyndall? What patch got changed? Do we all have to buy new patches before National Conference (if we wear military-style uniforms)? There should be something from National PA about this, not just a local TV station story (which is pretty poorly written, I might add). :-) -Michael- On 6/26/2016 11:13 AM, Mark Keays wrote: > There is a news story you can google "civil air patrol repatching" > and it brings up a local TV station at Tyndel showing ceremony and > announcing an internal AF shift in reporting commands. > > LT Mark Keays > PAO Nellis Senior Squadron > > > Sent from my iPhone > > Mark Keays > DMS > 702-364-1146 Office > 702-860-0176 Cell > > On Jun 26, 2016, at 08:35, Michael Marek > wrote: > >> Anybody know anything more about this? >> >> It is obviously a local news story, which sometimes does not reflect >> national perspectives. >> >> I am particularly interested in the "re-patching ceremony." I don’t believe this has any effect on CAP at all, other than the organizational issue of having our AF liaison at 1AF (that is part of Combat Command), rather than at Air University (that is on the training side). Kind regards, Arthur ~ From: CAP-PAO [mailto:cap-pao-bounces+awoodgate=austin.rr.com at lists.sempervigilans.org] On Behalf Of Michael Marek Sent: Sunday, June 26, 2016 11:20 AM To: cap-pao Subject: Re: [PAO] Civil Air Patrol changes commands to streamline its operations Exactly -- a LOCAL news story. :-) -Michael- On 6/26/2016 11:13 AM, Mark Keays wrote: There is a news story you can google "civil air patrol repatching" and it brings up a local TV station at Tyndel showing ceremony and announcing an internal AF shift in reporting commands. Lieutenant General William Etter, Commander of First Air Force added, "This will make our response quicker and more effective and efficient because we'll have the headquarters in line with where we actually task out the operational flying." _______________________________________________ Subscribed Email Address: mark at dmslv.com CAP-PAO mailing list CAP-PAO at lists.sempervigilans.org http://lists.sempervigilans.org/mailman/listinfo/cap-pao -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
