That makes me even more convinced that CAP should not be separating PAO and PIO responsibilities as is now. We are one organization and can't compartmentalize it so much. SAR, HLS, and DR missions are part of the whole mission. Without them, would CAP be here? At times its like being in two different organizations depending on what the activity is.

I think maybe I didn’t really get my idea clearly across.  My idea was not to write about our CCS…you are correct that OPSEC applies here…bur rather to write about our training to support our communities in time of disaster.  No
OPSEC issues there.  This is to let our communities know that CAP members in their local communities are professional volunteers dedicated to helping in
Time of crisis be it natural or man made as well as search and rescue operations.

I don’t believe that’s a good idea, Tom.

Every PAO needs to write a PA Plan and a Crisis Communications Plan, which used to be posted on the NHQ website; the CCP is no longer there, because it was considered sensitive. So I don’t see how the PAOs could be writing articles about this, since this information is not to be published for the general public.

The answer is quite simple. When tasked by the AFRCC, CAP assists the requesting agency, and we do so following NIMS operational guidelines. That is both the long and the short of it. Writing anything more about it would probably ring OPSEC bells somewhere.

Best regards,

Arthur ~

September is national Disaster Preparedness Month.  I was just curious about
How many PAO’s are writing articles about how their wings are/have been training to address local disaster response.
